Meridell Achievement Center phased out its children’s residential program

October 13, 2016

Meridell has 134 beds serving boys and girls ages 11-17.

Until last August, our programs included 32 beds for traditional behavioral girls.  We needed more.  Demand was much greater than these 32 beds could provide.

Conversely, our lowest volume of patients had been children, ages 5-10.  This program had 22 beds.

To be of service to the greatest number of patients, we closed our children’s program and dedicated 22 more beds to serve traditional behavioral girls.  Our capacity for traditional behavioral girls increased to 54 from 32.

Because we had no other bed availability for children, we phased out our children’s program in September.

Our remaining 80 beds serve:

Traditional behavioral boys – 16 beds

Neurobehavioral boys – 44 beds

Neurobehavioral girls – 20 beds
